The Dashers’ finest, race hardened, highly trained potential class leading runners didn’t race today and the Waltz had to make do with Kev, Pete, Sarah and me.
With a clear blue sky and no wind, it couldn’t have been a better day for the race. Kev, Pete & I were close as we approached the summit of Robinson, then racing snake Murphy started to pull away. The views from the peaks were superb and given time, I could probably have identified Bow Fell, Scar Fell Pike, Pillar and several others. However, running without looking at the path is foolish and I plodded on. With my complete lack of training, Kev finished ahead of me and I had to content myself with ‘just’ 140 points.
I must add that Pete’s race drink was a mixture of water, lucozade and Mr Muscle (yes, really). I don’t think its performance enhancing, but I suspect it will have cleaned him out by the morning.
